BEIRUT

Oh. My. Word. Just LISTEN! I have listened to this song no less than 20 times today--no lie. I can't help but smile during the cool trumpet part near the end--it makes me happy. This is especially for Carlos, Mike and Stephanie who will certainly dig it. And David Van Dusen--you will love it too methinks.
Update: So, Aaron Belz just e-mailed me and told me that I am "18 months behind". I am deflated. Have mercy on me, Oh cool Americans. I have lived in Britain for almost 6 years. People have bad taste there (with a few exceptions in Glasgow!)--I received no guidance.
Another cool-o-meter update: Aaron wrote back again saying that MAYBE I was only 12 months behind. whew, good to know. Aaron, why don't you just LEAVE A COMMENT?!

Hey Mary, I think you forgot the "thanks to bill for introducing me to this band" part.

Sorry Bill. Yes yes, you get all the cool points for this one. Thank you--glad I FINALLY listened to you. Robi also told me about the band (thanks) but you were the FIRST. Of course.

Hey Mary! Yes I agree, it sounds like a great band indeed. Actually I have listened to the four songs that are on their "myspace" space about 15 times each today! The song with the accordeon ("Mount Wroclai") really reminds me of the music of Yann Tiersen, you know the guy who composed the music for the film "Amelie". It is a bit nostalgic in the same way, they also use this instrument that sounds like triangles (but is it?), and the voice of the guy is really similar to Y. Tiersen's. And I can't believe that the guy at the head of the group is 20 years old!!! Man, some people start being talented at an early age! And they are touring Europe in the next months...am thinking I could go and see them in Paris??? Or Barcelona??? If I'm around I might...So..."Thank you Mary for introducing me to this band"...!

I got a hold of this a while ago, I like it overall but found some of it a bit too contrived.

Mary, despite your behindness on this particular band, please keep sending me names of bands & albums. . . I've gotten a lot of new stuff from you, including, most recently, Dolorean. I'm not so young anymore, so i need to hear about the new stuff. Maybe we should start a group music-review blog?

I LOVE that idea--the group music review blog. Totally up for it!

Mary,

I do indeed love this young boy--- just hope to never meet him.

My sister wants to marry his voice tho there's no gulag in it, less nostalghia is a death-camp.

& I intend to see him sing in Londres in late-june--- a £7 show.

All love,

d.

I wanted to thank you for visiting and leaving comments at my blog by returning the favor. I see you are fairly new to this blogging thing, but I very much like what I see here. I hope it's all right if I link to you; if not, I still look forward to returning.
